According to Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Mr. Sandiaga Uno, domestic tourists are still the mainstay of the country's tourism industry. In 2022, Indonesia sets a target of 260-280 million domestic trips, bringing added value to the creative economy of more than 1.2 trillion rupiah.

Regarding the target of international tourists, Indonesia wants to attract between 1.8-3.6 million visitors with foreign exchange income between $470 million and $1.7 billion. This goal is based on international activities and events hosted by Indonesia in 2022. Although this is not a high goal, but with the current cautious border opening policy, the International events are expected to be a source of foreign exchange revenue for the country.

In addition, the number of visitors to Indonesia is also based on the ability to enter. Minister Sandiaga Uno said that at present, Indonesia has only opened its doors to tourists to Bali, Batam and Bintan islands. In particular, Bali is the favorite destination of Australian, Indian and Japanese tourists, while Batam and Bintan attract tourists from Malaysia and Singapore.

Previously, in 2020, the number of foreign tourists to Indonesia reached 4.05 million people, while in 2021, this number will only reach 1.5 million people due to tight policies before the pandemic.

Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, Economy, and Innovation also shows that although the pandemic has caused a decrease in the number of international visitors to Indonesia, it is still a favorite destination for tourists as shown by tourism search data. on the Internet. However, with new variants like today, in the immediate future, the Omicron variant, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy needs to coordinate with the Ministry of Health to determine the focus of the tourism market.

At the same time, next year, Indonesia will continue to promote "MICE tourism", a type of tourism that combines conferences, seminars, and exhibitions next year and events such as sports and cultural events. ./.
