 Laos and Cambodia promote cooperation in tourism


Laos and Cambodia are committed to strengthening tourism cooperation while emphasizing the focus on ensuring the safety of visitors. The above statement was made by the Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism yesterday (January 18).

Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suonsavan Vinhaket said that Laos is coordinating with Cambodia to strengthen tourism development in the coming time, in order to develop and adapt to the Covid-19 epidemic situation. The two sides are completing the preparation work on the content for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The Memorandum of Understanding creates favorable conditions for the two sides to enhance cooperation, contributing to improving the service quality of each country's tourism industry, attracting investment businesses and connecting tourism of the two sides. In addition, the memorandum of understanding creates a legal corridor for the two sides to share information, experience as well as respond to the Covid-19 epidemic, in order to create maximum favorable conditions for tourists.


Currently, Laos has opened a number of border gates to welcome tourists with some necessary conditions attached. However, since opening, because the epidemic situation in Laos is still complicated, with unpredictable risks, the entry procedures for tourists related to Covid-19 testing, organize the Waiting for the results and the unfavourable flight route, the number of visitors to Laos is still limited and not as expected.
